Welcome to the CTE club!

With respect to a CTE credential, all CTE credentials have the same basic requirement of 3000 hours of industry experience. However, 1000 hours of that can be offset with education units, and another 1000 hours can be offset with teaching experience. The final 1000 hours is pretty ironclad, you have to have them.

While our school district doesn't provide credentials, we have had numerous teachers work with the agencies listed below and get a credential. You may also contact Christine Newton, our credential analyst in the HR department, cnewton@rjuhsd.us. She can be a helpful resource for you during the process.

Contact the agencies below, let them know you're interested in obtaining a CTE credential, and they'll assist you through the process. Just pick whichever one you like the best or sounds the most promising.

Typically, there's a CTE pedagogy class that needs to be completed, application and filing fees, and the usual wait for the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to process things.

As soon as you receive the letter from the sponsoring agency that you have met the requirements and they have filed the request for the credential with the CTC, send it to both Christine Newton and Shane Waggoner.
